Revitalising Maerl Beds: The Blue Hope Alliance's 2023 Survey Expedition

In September 2023, the Blue Hope Alliance led an ambitious survey week to assess and revive maerl beds in Wester Ross. Supported by Plymouth University, University of Gothenburg researchers, we focused on monitoring maerl recovery, studying flame shell interactions, and investigating nutrient impacts on algae growth. Our goal is to aid maerl and ecosystem recovery documenting changes and advocating for its conservation to benefit surrounding areas.
